Fourth Sunday of November is Now Officially National Bicycle Day

Bicycles have been a blessing during the pandemic. They make running errands and getting to your destination easier as transportation has proven to be a challenge. As bicycles are becoming even more the norm, the DOTr secured a budget for building bike lane networks in major cities.

Here’s another good news for bikers: The fourth Sunday of November has been officially assigned as National Bicycle Day!

The announcement comes after Executive Secretary Salvador Medialde signed Proclamation 1052 last November 18. The proclamation states that National Bike Day will be celebrated every fourth Sunday of November to promote mind-body health and encourage everyone to reduce air pollution through the use of non-motorized transportation and sustainable practices.

The annual celebration will be helmed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Both public and private sectors are  encouraged to conduct eco-conscious activities to commemorate the event.
