Post-Quarantine Series: Guidelines & Rules for Flying with PAL & CebPac in the New Normal

Have you ever wondered how different flying will be now that the threat of coronavirus still exists? Do you need to wear a mask all the time? Can you still check in 2 hours before a local flight? Can you still purchase in-flight meals?

To help you ease into the transition, we’ve gathered information released by Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific (CebPac) on what changes and protocols are now implemented once you step into an airport for your flight.

Note:  This is a developing situation. Some rules may change depending on an airline or LGU. Please make sure to check with the air carrier in advance.

CEBU PACIFIC

GENERAL RULES

  • Implementation of contactless travel to minimize face-to-face contact
  • Pilots and cabin crew shall undergo COVID-19 (rapid antibody testing or RAT) prior to their shift.
  • Ground and operations staff must wear personal protective equipment all throughout their shift.

BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT

  • Passengers are advised to do online check-in for flights.

UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT

  • Passengers required to wear face mask upon entry.
  • Alcohol-based sanitizers to be provided at the airport and in flight

BOARDING

  • Passengers to present boarding passes and hold it with the barcode facing the staff upon boarding
  • Passengers must observe physical distancing while queueing during boarding.

DURING THE FLIGHT

  • Passengers are required to keep their masks on all throughout the flight.
  • Daily disinfection of aircraft, plus sanitization of lavatories every 30 minutes

PHILIPPINE AIRLINES 

GENERAL RULES (FOR ALL PAL FACILITIES INCLUDING TICKETING OFFICE)

  • All people entering ticketing office must undergo temperature checks
  • Strict no mask, no entry policy
  • PAL staff to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and face masks at all times
  • Transparent protective barriers must be installed in counters
  • Social distancing must be observed by staff and passengers at all times

BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT

  • Passengers are advised to do online check-in for flights.
  • Passengers must be at the airport 4 hours prior to international flight and 3 hours prior to domestic flight.
  • Allowable carry-on reduced from 7 kilograms to 2 kilograms 
  • Free baggage allowance of 5 kilogram added to passengers allowance
  • Passengers now allows to carry up to ten 100ml bottles containing up to 70 percent alcohol

UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT

  • Passengers required to wear face mask upon entry.
  • Alcohol-based sanitizers to be provided at the airport and in flight.
  • Passengers to undergo temperature checks at all entrances
  • Passengers must observe physical distancing at all times, including at check-in counters.

MABUHAY LOUNGE

  • Guests are required to sanitize foot wear using sanitizing floor mat prior to entry. 
  • Social distancing between seats must be observed at all times.
  • Alcohol-based sanitizers must be available at all times. 
  • PAL lounge staff must don masks and gloves at all times.
  • Meals to be served in sealed disposable packaging. Beverages will be served on demand.

DURING A FLIGHT

  • Regular disinfection of aircraft
  • Passengers are required to keep their masks on all throughout the flight.
  • Flight crew are required to don PPE at all times.
  • Meals, snacks, and beverages will be offered through a simplified distribution service.
  • Social distancing to be observed in cabin seating
  • HEPA filters must be utilized to disinfect air against viruses

UPON ARRIVAL AT DESTINATION

  • Passengers and PAL crew are required to keep their masks on. 
  • Passengers and PAL crew must sanitize footwear using sanitizing floor mat upon disembarkation.
  • Passengers are required to fill out a health form for documentation of travel and health history
  • Alcohol-based sanitizers must be available at all times. 
  • Periodic disinfection of pushcarts.
  • Social distancing must be observed at all times.
