4 Ways to Satisfy Your Quarantine Cravings While Donating to Frontliners

Photo by Pizza for a Cause

We’re all missing the outside world especially the joy of dining in our favorite restaurant or fast food. With the limited interactions and resources we have right now, it is difficult to satisfy our cravings unlike before where we’ll just easily go outside or order smoothly online to fulfill our hungry stomachs. Don’t worry, there are still ways to try out something new at the comfort of your house while helping our frontliners.

Different groups, organizations, and even individuals initiated multiple ways and efforts to help the frontliners as they continue to protect us from COVID-19. Since many healthcare workers still don’t have enough access to personal protective equipment or PPE, several people decided to use their skill in cooking and baking to sell quarantreats online—donating their earnings or a portion of it to hospitals and healthcare workers.

Extend help to both of our frontliners and fellow Filipinos who are trying to make ends meet in these tough times. Support local and help our frontliners by ordering goodies from these local businesses and fundraising projects!

Pizza For A Cause

We all love this savory Italian dish that usually comes with tomatoes, pepperoni, cheese, mozzarella, pineapples—which is debatable—and various toppings! This newly established small business and project was founded during the beginning of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) by Angie Lu. It started as a food drive for the healthcare workers in Cardinal Santos Medical Center where the Lu family cooked homemade pizza, pasta, paella, and sushi, until they’ve decided to continue supporting the frontliners through making and selling pizzas.

Angie Lu also mentioned that this project is a way of teaching her children the importance of giving, family values, and productivity. They currently have three flavors: Pizza Salame Piccante E Pancetta, Pizza Cinque Formaggi, and Pizza Tartufo Al Miele E Formaggio. Premium ingredients are used, and to make the pizza extra special, it is made with love and generosity.

All proceeds will go to several hospitals. So far, they were also able to donate PPEs such as protective suits, face shields, N95, and reusable masks, and canned goods to Fabella Hospital, Pasig Hospital, San Juan Medical Center, and Cardinal Santos Medical Center with the help of their friends. So, if you’re longing for some comfort food, don’t think twice about giving Pizza For A Cause a try!

Heaven’s Touch Cuisine

There are times that some of us are getting lazy to cook our own food at home. In case you’re in a couch potato mode, why don’t you check out Heaven’s Touch Cuisine for bacsilog with oozing cheese sauce? It started as a local eatery in Dapitan in 2006 known for serving affordable student meals. The eatery was founded and is being managed by the Piadoche family. When the University of Santo Tomas Hospital reported its first COVID patient, they decided to distribute 230 food packs to the healthcare workers in UST Hospital. After receiving messages and support from their friends, Heaven’s Touch Cuisine pushed through with its business and food drive as a way of giving back to its customers and frontliners.

With the help of sponsorships and donations, they already provided 3,000 food packs to hospitals around Manila and Quezon City including institutions, schools, and universities where homeless people are temporarily staying. Heaven’s Touch Cuisine also offers platter meals like lechon kawali kare-kare, lechon kawali, sisig, pancit malabon, and other Filipino dishes! For each meal purchased, 10% of the profit will proceed to Heaven’s Touch food drive that provides free meals for frontliners and homeless people.
